HOW TO USE YOUR PRODUCTS

WORM TEA ● GARDEN GOLD ● COMPOST BLENDS ● BIOCHAR

Worm Tea

This tea is for your plants to drink - not you!! Soil enriching worm castings in a liquid form for garden and household use.

Directions for use:

Use to water your garden or houseplants up to every 2 weeks to infuse microbial life into the soil. It is imperative that the tea be used within 72 hours of delivery! The tea is alive with microbial life that needs oxygen to survive. Once it is pulled from our brewing system, the microbes will consume all the available oxygen and once the oxygen is gone, bad bacteria starts to take over!

Garden Gold

Soil enriching worm castings for garden and household use. These worm castings are alive! Any leaf material you may see in our product sustains the activity of its microbiome.

Directions for use:

Mix 1 part worm castings with 4 parts of your other growing medium of choice. We suggest Worm Return’s Dirt Nerd Compost or Pitt Moss, both sold on our website.

May also be used as top dressing in houseplants. Apply 1 inch to your plant pot, and reapply every 3 months. If you are trying to treat a larger area, worm tea is your best bet.

For optimal quality keep out of UV light and use within 6 months. Mist with dechlorinated water if storing for longer periods of time.

Compost Blends

THE BEST COMPOST IN TOWN. Our compost feedstocks are sourced locally, processed locally, and so nutrient rich that you and your garden will be in awe. We offer several compost blends that each serve different purposes.

Directions for use:

  • 100% Compost
Use this pure compost to top off garden beds or plant directly. Assume high nutrient content. Our customers have seen great results in plants from peppers to palm trees when planting directly. See below for more detailed instructions.

  • 80/20 Compost/Castings Blend
No need to mix this product with worm castings - we did it for you.

  • 50/50 Compost/Pittmoss Blend
While many potting mixes use peat, which is environmentally harmful, we recommend using this 50/50 blend for an ideal seed starting blend or potting soil.

Specific Uses for 100% Compost

Garden Beds

Compost has many uses in the garden bed. It can be used to "top-dress" your soil by acting as a fertile mulch. To do this, simply add a layer of compost on top of your soil and around your plants. This will help to suppress weeds and bolster plants. Compost can also be worked into soil at the beginning or end of the season. If you till your garden, add about 5 gallons of compost per 30 or so square feet.

Top-Dress Grass

Compost can improve grassy areas through top-dressing. Liberally sprinkle compost over any grassy area (especially areas with bald patches) and rake evenly. Adding fresh grass seed and clover at this time will help repair any thin spots in your yard. Be sure to water well or prepare in advance of a good soaking rain.

Potting Mixes

Compost is an ideal component of potting mix.  Plants

Soil Conditioning

Compost is a great way to get seeds planted. Especially in a no-till system, seeds can be planted into a layer of compost at least 2" deep and 5" wide directly over the soil without disturbing any microorganisms below ground. Compost can be blending into the soil as well to increase moisture and organic content.

Biochar

Biochar is made by burning carbon based material in a low oxygen environment, leaving behind pure carbon. The resulting powder soaks up moisture and odors better than baking soda.

Directions for use:

Sprinkle biochar in your compost bucket to reduce the odors you likely smell each time you open it. We package it in reused spice containers for easy dispensing.
